So Trey is having himself quite a summer.   He has taken several steps further in the pool.  Inasmuch that he is probably a foot taller than last year he is much more free to stand in a larger portion of the pool.  He no longer needs mommy or daddy to catch him (yaaaaaaay, I don’t have to get in!) as he jumps in, gets out, jumps in, gets out, over and over again.  Then he goes down to the deep end and demands to be caught by mommy or daddy (booooooooooo) lest he, well, drown.  Given his diagnosis that would certainly raise suspicion.  Another thing he does now is, while holding on to the edge of the deep end or simply standing in the, well…Treystandableend (only described as such by me and only just now) is just go to the bottom.  Out of nowhere, whoop, he’s under the water (“in the ocean” as he calls it).  After a moment he comes to the surface and is very proud of himself.

He spends Monday mornings getting his meds and Tuesday mornings getting Occupational and Physical Therapy.  Trey being Trey he, as always, loves it.  He has his “ladies” (nurses, volunteers, doctors, other patients, and oh…anyone) at each place who love him and shower him with praise, affection and attention.  He and Rachel occasionally run into folks we know and it’s always nice to give a “wish you weren’t here either” nod.  Sometimes we see someone that hasn’t met Trey before but knows the story and they are shocked that he looks and acts so “normal”.  My favorite two quotes are, “That’s the boy with…the, uh, issues?” and “You have 3 kids right?” The second quote was as Joe, Bella, and Trey were jostling about and bouncing off of each other and everything near them.  Apparently the prevailing thought is that he is or should be frail, sick, and much more like his diagnosis.  Nope.  He is a healthy vibrant spirit filled kid…who happens to have tumors inside of his body that, according to Doctors, will eventually spread and/or grow.  Praise God that has happened in 14 months.

He prefers to be naked, pee outside (naked), play with bubbles, ride slides and swings, eat everything, bother his brother and sister, defy his mother and father, and melt our hearts every day.

Here is the latest Pray for Trey prayer posting from his Aunt Cathy.  She does an amazing job sensing where God is leading and what He is teaching us through this time period.  Thanks for checking in.  If you are on facebook and aren’t a member of “Pray (and more) for Trey” just ask to be added, we’d love to have you.
