I didn’t get a great nights sleep last night.  Oh sure, there was the one or two wake ups from Trey and Bella going to the bathroom (Trey needs to be tucked back into bed “just so” and Bella always has something to say just to make sure that I’m awake), weird dreams (something about disease, things not going as planned, being late, being out of control, no one understanding why or what I was doing in my dream…no idea where that stuff comes from), shoulder discomfort (I have two bad shoulders…I think that’s the max), and either being hot or cold in bed but in general it was just not great sleep.  Oh, it may have been the fact that I was unsure how to handle Bella scrubbing a bar of soap with Rachel and my toothbrushes as retribution for punishing her for grabbing and pinching Joe with her fingernails (Rachel took the brunt of this one as she used hers before alerting me to the potential sabotage of my own).  Nonetheless, I woke up with a bit of a ‘tude.

Then, on the way to drop Joe off at school.  Things changed…big time.  Right there on Frankstown Rd. across from Rita’s in the Zombie Vincent’s building (we refer to all closed businesses as Zombie XYZ…thank you Ryan Lowe) was a sign.  “Domino’s – Coming Soon!”  BOOM!!!  Attitude changed in an instant.  Morning made.  I mean, God’s mercies are new every morning and each day IS a gift, I could have lost Trey to complications from surgery (and who knows what else) over two years ago and each day with him is an incredible gift…but DOMIFREAKINOS?!?!  Granted, it’s not Burger King or Taco Bell (both of which we used to have but I digress) but I love me some Domino’s.  You see, it can be the little things that make the difference in a day.  Here are some of mine.  What are yours?  Remember, not the huge Godly life changing answer to prayer type things…the little things (in no order).

1.  Seeing if something will work (spice/food prep wise) and it does.

2.  A spontaneous out of nowhere laugh from something on the radio.

3.  Finding an old picture that reminds you of a great time.

4.  Getting stuff done and thinking, “yeah, but I still have to…, have to…” and realizing you’re caught up.

5.  A great sammie (sandwich).

6.  Hearing lawnmowers and knowing your grass is cut.

7.  Having the house to yourself.

8.  The moment when you realize you’ve created a tagline/running gag with your son and know it’s funny.

9.  A warm perfect chocolate chip cookie.

10.  An old school ice cream sandwich (like the ones from high school).

11.  Paying the bills (when you  have the $$).

12.  A new episode (or season) of your favorite show(s).

13.  Getting into bed for a guilt free nap.

14.  Clean sheets.

15.  Pulling up to a parking meter and seeing that there is enough time left from the previous person.

16.  Waking up and realizing you have something cool or exciting to do that day.

17.  Getting into a conversation that is deep yet free from worrying about what the other person is thinking.

18.  Respect (or having any emotional need met).

19.  A kiss from your wife (your own wife/husband/…you know what I mean).

20.  Making someone laugh really hard.

21.  Getting the best parking space.

22.  Something about exercise, blah blah blah (I think I have to put that on a list like this but it doesn’t really apply to me.  I’ve never experienced that endorphin runner’s high muscle pump thing.  I just get tired and sore).

23.  A knowing look from a close friend when someone else says something that could be inappropriate in another context.  I guess more simply said, “being immature.”

24.  Movie premiers (CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS 2!!! …don’t judge.).

25.  Bacon.

That’s it, that’s the list…for now.  Yours?
